Nature's Natural Antibiotics

A simple ingredient home remedy to help stop a cough and soothe a sore throat.

The changing of the seasons has come upon us once again. Unfortunately, with that change comes the dreaded cold and flu season. The temperature is dropping, which means more indoor activities and the old tradition of germ trading have become more popular.

This week we're giving you a honey-based all-natural antibiotic that you can recreate at home with just a few ingredients from your spice rack.

Nature's Cough Syrup

Honey can help to soothe a sore or itchy throat or quell a cough brought on by a cold. It contains both antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. It's also a natural antioxidant. Making it the perfect go-to whenever you're feeling under the weather.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp. Honey

  • 1 tsp. Tumeric

  • 1 tsp. Ginger

  • 1 tsp Ground black pepper

Directions:

  1. Mix all ingredients in either a mason jar or an air-tight container.

  2. Once your mixture is created you may either take it, swallowing a teaspoon at a time, or boil a cup of water and stir a teaspoon of the mixture into the boiled water to drink it.

Tea Time

This week we're directing you to a few of our own teas that may get you through this cold and flu season. Including a Catalyst Tea Company favorite, Citrus Bliss. Packed with vitamin C to help give the immune system a boost, Citrus Bliss could be your first line of defense when it comes to a sore throat brought on by the weather change. Much like a warm salt-water rinse or a teaspoon of honey, lemon, and other citrus fruits are excellent at breaking up mucus.
